| Johnny Prather, owner of Western Carolina Real Estate Co., Inc, presents $250.00 to Marcus Moose, President, Heather Raper, Vice President and Courtney Laney, PIO of the Tri County Community College Student Government Association to sponsor their participation in the N4CSGA Conference. The N4CSGA is a student based and student run organization. It is made up of three parts, the General Delegation, the Executive Board, and the Advisory Council. They represent the needs and concerns, in issue format, of the representative students of the North Carolina Community College System to the appropriate administrative and governing bodies. Last year the Tri County Community College Student Government Association participated in all categories. The Tri- County Student Government Association is the most recent recipient of Western Carolina Real Estate co., Inc.'s designated "Giving Back to the Community" budget for 2007. |

| Johnny Prather, owner of Western Carolina Real Estate Co., Inc, presents, Colton Mathews, President; Cody Green, Secretary/Treasurer; and Tiffany Carrol, Vice-President (Murphy High School Student Government Association officers) $5,000 to sponsor a large LED sign to be placed near the Lowe’s sign along the highway The Murphy High School Student Government Association is hard at work raising funds for the sign. The cost of the sign will be approximately $30,000, the students already have commitments from several local sponsors for $5,000 each. Western Carolina Real Estate Company, is proud to be a part of this project to help Murphy High School and the SGA. | Johnny Prather, owner of Western Carolina Real Estate Co., Inc, and his son Zach present Marlene Wilson, librarian at Murphy Middle School a $1,000.00 donation for student selected books for the upper grade levels at Murphy Middle School. Through the Read-a-Rama fund raiser, based on the Accelerated Reader program, the school earned a total of $4600.00 to add books to the school’s library. These new books create an increase in reading and cross curricular student achievement at all levels . Nearly 300 students and 100% of the teachers are involved in this program. Johnny Prather, owner of Western Carolina Real Estate Co., Inc, presents William Haves, Chief of the Unaka Volunteer Fire Department, with a $500.00 check for equipment renovation, new equipment and general administration supplies. The Unaka Volunteer Fire Department is a non-profit organization made up entirely of volunteers from Cherokee county. Chief Hayes advises that there are 22 volunteers in the department and while there first responsibility is fire fighting over 90% of their calls are first responder calls for accidents and medical emergencies. On behalf of the Appalachian Angels, Inc. we sincerely thank you for your generous contribution of $500. New carpeting was installed in the GAL office, and the balance of $142.53 was put into the general Appalachian Angels fund. Your kindness comes as a welcome touch of warmth and caring to many children who are truly in need. Gifts are used to purchase coats, shoes and clothing for our foster kids; as well as birthday presents and rewards like bicycles and CD players, and even t-ball for the little guys. Charter School meet its goal to see increased use of Instructional Technology across the Curriculum. Through his Giving Back Program donation, Prather’s $500 donation will go towards hosting the PS-8th school’s web site and the purchase of software. Additionally Prather has arranged for his webmaster, Dr. Richard Knee, Ed. S., Ed. D. to offer a 6 week, on-site training for The Learning Center! staff. Accepting the check is The Learning Center! | CHAMBER SUPPORT – Johnny Prather, owner/broker, Western Carolina Real Estate Co., steps up to help the Cherokee County Chamber of Commerce/Welcome Center boost its building fund. The donation of $500 is helping the chamber reach a goal of $70,000 needed to add a conference room, office, restroom and kitchenette to the existing site. Also planned are renovations to the existing restrooms and the parking area. This latest donation brings the fund near the $44,000 mark. | Johnny Prather, owner of Western Carolina Homes and Land, Inc., presents Master Gardener, Martha Penz, along with other Master Gardeners , $500.00 towards the purchase of a computer landscaping program for the Cherokee County Master Gardeners. This software will help people in the community design their own landscape with plants that will be good for this area. The Master Gardeners are supervised by the Cooperative Extension Service. Keith Wood, Agricultural Extension Agent, is planning on offering a program to help anyone in designing their own landscape. |
